As the 2009 Supercross season came to a close in Las Vegas last week, ONE Industries wanted to finish out the year with a bang. So, we invited some of our sponsored athletes out for a day of fun. What can you do for guys who have done just about everything? We put them behind the wheel of the world’s finest supercars and turned them loose on the racetrack!
The day started early as the riders made their way out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway to take part in the Supercar Life Experience. Upon entering the gates of the Speedway, the riders were instantly drawn to the candy colors of paint that coated the stable of dream cars parked in pit row. Leading the pack was a bright orange Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera followed by the Porsche Turbo 997, Aston Martin DB9, Mercedes CLK 63 AMG Black Series and the Ferrari F430.
A group of world-class professional drivers spent some time with the Supercross stars getting them familiar with the vehicles and the track. They first took the riders through an overview of each car they would drive, discussing the power and handling capabilities. Next up was a little driver training on the skid pad followed by several hours of high-speed passes around the road course. Initially, some of the riders showed signs of nervousness and were maybe even a little intimidated by the monstrous roar of the machines. As expected, once they put their helmets on that nervousness completely disappeared as they mashed the aluminum gas pedals to the floor!
After a day of driving a collection of the most elite supercars, getting the athletes off the track proved to be a difficult challenge. It took running one car out of gas and burning the tires off another to finally convince them that it was time to call it a day!
ONE Industries would like to thank all of our riders for a great Supercross season and send out a special thanks to the Supercar Life crew for putting on such a great event. Everyone had the time of their lives as evidenced by their huge smiles and bench racing that continued through the end of the day.
