Like the season opener last weekend in Anaheim, there was no shortage of excitement for Round 2
of the Monster Energy Supercross
series that past Saturday in Phoenix, Arizona. With a handful of story lines already shaping up, fans were packed into Chase Field and or sat glued to their TVs on Fox Sports 1
to see the action unfold.
With One Industries
rider Bracken Hall
out with a broken radius, it was up to our other 250MX
riders to fly the flag for the team. ONEiD
backed rider Josh Hansen
rode smooth and smart all day during qualifying to grab a Top 10 time going into the night show. Kevin Weisbruch
did what he had to do and grabbed the 29th fastest qualifying time easily putting him into the forty-man field. Unfortunately for Broc Shoemaker
, an illness he fought all week proved troublesome as he missed the night some.
In the 450 class
, both Josh Grant
and Kyle Partridge
put in a solid qualifying efforts that had them both sitting Top 20 all day. ONEiD
backed Nick Wey
also threw down a good enough lap time to put his Kawasaki in the Top 40 and directly into the night show.
Once the sun went down and stadium lights came on, fans were treated to UNREAL races from the beginning of the heats right thru into the mains.
No Bracken Hall
and with Broc Shoemaker
unfortunately not being able to make the night show, it was up to Josh Hansen
and Kevin Weisbruch
to put ONE into the 250 main
. Like last weekend, Hansen
used a solid start to secure a spot in the main event. Weisbruch
got tangled up with Malcolm Stewart
at the start of his heat and went down hard; he would be forced to the LCQ where a bad start would end his night.
battled EVERY lap of his heat only to be edge out in the very last section! Grant
came back flying in the semi to battle to a solid fourth place finish in a very stacked semi to put the #33 ride into the main event.
For the second weekend in a row… Nick Wey
just missed the main and Kyle Partridge
fought his way out of the LCQ to put himself into the main event amongst the best riders in the world.
With only Josh Hansen
in the 250 main, the #100 had a lot of work to do for the ONE team. Unfortunately, a first turn crash would put an end to any podium hopes Hansen
and his team may have had. But to Hanny’s credit, he battled to the end and found himself in 13th.
Like last weekend, ONE’s Josh Grant
and Kyle Partridge
made it into a stacked 450 main. And it was the same beginning and almost the identical finish to the race as both riders got bad starts forcing them both to come thru the pack.
was moving up well until a crash off a triple putting an end to his charge toward the top 10. In obvious pain, Grant
got back up and gutted out a 19th place finish to salvage some points. Kyle Partridge
finished in 21st spot. Both riders where running gear from our 2015 line and available now online at www.oneindsutries.com or your local moto shop!
The series now heads back to Anaheim next weekend for Round 3 of the Monster Energy Supercross
